N-W. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Br1/S. 6.2.36. re Technical - E.60582a Tie Rods. ---------------- Thank you for your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WT15/MW4.2.36. We have examined the set of the above off GYH-37, which you sent back to us. We find that there is definite slackness at the engine bearer cap, also in the bush and link, in the bolt and bush, and in the bolt and jaw of the bearer. In the front end there is slight slack in the bush and link and in the bolt and jaw at the end. During a visit to N several months ago, Mr. Grylls of the Experimental Department informed us that in cases of complaint of clutch roughness, this tie rod should always be examined and if there is any slackness in any of the parts it should be exchanged as this is definitely a contributory cause of clutch roughness when engaging. We must confirm that we have cured heaps of complaints by changing this tie rod for a new one with everything tight fitting. We suggest therefore that it would be advisable for you to consult Mr. Grylls about this, as, without doubt, he feels very strongly that this is a particular feature for attention. As you will see from our Complaints Reports, complaints of clutch roughness on the more modern 25 H.P.'s have been very numerous during the past year. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} | ||
