-3- (4) Big Bore Engine. This engine is now running its endurance test. (5) Lead Bronze Bearings. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} now has 6 more sets of these available. If these are to be fitted to Trials cars we should like some chassis to be allotted. (6) Worst Features. The big bore engine will deal with the question of performance. We consider that the Van Vooren type of body coupled with the Wilmot-Breeden stabilising bumper bar will eliminate the complaint of front end movement. The Van Vooren body is being fitted to experimental chassis B-23-AE. (7) 20/25 HP. Change Speed Lever Rattle. A design has been prepared for this, and it will be fitted to 21-G-IV which will be ready to leave for France at the end of the week. The design as it standards at present, however, calls for a new gearbox. In view of the retrospective action which may be considered desirable for customers who have complained of the gear lever rattle, we think that the design should be modified so that it can be fitted to existing cars. We presume that N. are dealing with Gurney Nutting's car, as we have heard nothing further of it. We have had one of Br's people at Derby and gone over the whole carburetter question with him. N. are therefore capable of checking consumptions. We are working on a mixture control on the present standard carburetter. We hope to be able to demonstrate the big bore 20/25 fitted with the Stromberg carburetter on Friday, on car 18-G-IV. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
