Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},

Many thanks for your letter. I will certainly have a talk with T.C.Worth when he turns up. We are going to do extensive research on the best type and position of oil filters in aeroplanes which seems to be entirely unestablished at the present moment. Another thing we want to kill is the senseless throwing away of quantities of oil at regular periods, if we can manage it.

I do not know which model Lagonda Devereux has got but if it is the 11-foot wheel base saloon as I think it is, you will probably win your bet.

I am sure we have to take seriously his remarks about the probable future price of aluminium, and I think that within a very few years we shall see all forms of transport turned over to aluminium or even to magnesium. His new methods of production apply equally well to the production of cheap magnesium which I think is the material of the future for transport.

I am very sorry that I was not able to go on with my aluminium car and your aluminium Bentley body, and I certainly do not think that you should let up on that application but make Devereux continue with the good work as soon as the war stops.

Yours sincerely,
