Dear Sirs,
We thank you for the courtesy extended to our Representative during his recent visit during which you discussed the problem of maintaining a joint on your experimental engines.
On a number of occasions we have overcome troubles by making up gaskets with thick copper faces and utilising thin sheets of asbestos, and we have no hesitation in recommending that such gaskets would be equally suitable for your purpose as they have a reasonable amount of resiliency, and at the same time are practically free from mechanical breakdown on account of their providing a means of conducting away the heat from the cylinder openings to the water ways.
If you will indicate what are your requirements, we shall be only too pleased to make up some experimental gaskets for you.
Yours faithfully,
For J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Payen Ltd.
