LONDON, S.W.1.

For the attention of C.H. Brooks Esq.

Dear Sirs,

We are despatching to you to-day for your examination, the latest set of cracked 3 1/4" bore Bentley pistons.

You will notice that the bedding as before is very hard close to the flutes at the top of the skirt, and in case you have some difficulty in determining the pressure face, the piston weight is marked on the non-pressure side of the crown.

The outstanding feature of the piston that is so badly cracked is that it is cracked much worse on the non-pressure side than on the pressure side, and perhaps you may have some views to express on this.

The pistons have been run for 48 hours at 4,000 r.p.m., and are all out of the same engine.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
