1021 TELEPHONE: CENTRAL 8641 (18 LINES) TELEGRAMS: "BUMPERS, BIRMINGHAM." WILMOT-BREEDEN LTD EASTERN WORKS BIRMINGHAM 1 MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE 29th February 1940. W.A. Robotham Esq. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Robotham, Thank you for your letter of the 28th instant; also for the loan of the Buick car, which is proving very interesting, and our body people are going over it in some detail and making the necessary notes, in case there should be anything useful that we can embody in our proposals to you. About the oil cooler, we have put one of these through our copper brazing plant, and in order to see what sort of job it was, it was necessary to section it. I agreed to this, although I had not received your approval. I am sending you the sections, from which you will observe that the pressings themselves as they stand are not good enough to complete the seal between the two halves. The corrugations have gone very well, and the only other defect is where the distance piece meets the hole which has been plunged through the casing, and there is imperfect brazing there. We are correcting the pressings of the other sample, and endeavouring so to size the distance piece that the trouble in that connection will be eliminated. | ||
