To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EFC. X4672 EFC3/T9.5.27. RE ELLIOTT AMMETER As far as we know, the Test Dept. complaint is entirely due to the static effect which we have mentioned. We do not appear to have any record of an Elliott ammeter reading incorrectly from any other cause, unless there has been some definite mechanical fault, causing sticking. We agree it is not an easy matter to obtain this static deflection to order, nevertheless it has been demonstrated to exist on chassis and cause incorrect deductions. In regard to the slightly conductive glass, we have no particulars, but merely suggested the idea for Messrs. Elliott's investigation. In regard to their request for a Weston instrument, any standard Weston instrument taken from stock should answer this purpose, as I have never heard of this type of complaint on one of these instruments.
