X.4308 The Watford speed indicator was examined during Mr. North's visit to WW. on the 17th inst., and it was concluded that on Mr. North's suggestion and our own observations, it might not be satisfactory because of the high speed and consequent noise that it may generate. At the same time it would appear that we must be careful that the A.T. magnetic speedometer really gives a true indication of the car speed, and does not fall off with rise of temperature, or age giving loss of magnetism to the revolving magnets. I shall be glad if EFC. will make a comprehensive report on this instrument. He will realise that all the instruments fitted to our car are under his criticism. CREAM PORCELAIN ENAMELLED DIALS. I understand from EY. that there is no difficulty in obtaining at commercial prices, and in commercial quantities, cream porcelain enamelled dials with printed or transfer marked faces, and I should be delighted if they are equal in appearance to the one shewn me by Mr. North on the Watford clock. It will be noted that we prefer Arabic figures, and not Roman, on all clocks and all the instruments, of uniform colour and style. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
