(2) Spring to reduce vigour of falling weight, etc, of lever or dashpot for same. The dashpot is the same as yours, but inverted vertically, thus -

(3) Rubber faced stops placed at the off positions of the upper and lower ends of the balance lever might be made to prevent contact of the scissors levers but the maintenance of correct adjustment of these stops with the scissors stops does not seem practical.
