Further to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KW.26.7.34, which gave the proposed specification of this car. A number of modifications have now been made, the features now incorporated being :- CHASSIS. (1) Peregrine steering, N.Sch.4216. (2) Direct braking to all four wheels with steel brake shoes. (3) Axle control to N.Sch.4178. This scheme takes the place of the springs being shackled at the rear. (4) Brake drums with increased cooling and water excluding covers. (5) Brake pedal to N.Sch.4001, this being stiffer than previously. (6) Strengthened torsion shafts to the front axle, N.Sch.4009, to decrease the sponge in the brake system. (7) Light front cross member between the lamps, N.Sch.4124 reduced in section. (8) Rubber engine mounting, rear as previously run to LEC.3895, front to N.Sch.4167. (9) Cantilever pedals to N.Sch.4156 to suit the rubber engine mounting. (10) The magnesium gearbox which previously ran 10,000 miles on 4-B-IV. (11) The magnesium dashboard insulated from the engine with asbestos. (12) Strengthened front wing stays, RR.Sch.577. | ||
