Reorganisation of the Aero Production Drawing Office.

E.11/HP.11.8.41. REORGANISATION OF AERO PRODUCTION DRAWING OFFICE. Owing to the increasing volume of work passing through the Aero Production Drawing Office, it has been necessary to make some new arrangements in the organisation now engaged on dealing with detail drawings, Air Ministry procedure, and production routine work. The new arrangement divides the department into two entirely separate and independently responsible sections to be known respectively as the Aero Engine Detail Drawing Office and the Aero Engine Production Drawing Office. AERO ENGINE DETAIL DRAWING OFFICE. The Detail Drawing Office will deal with the detailing of all new work and the preparation of L.O.P's, Arrangement Drawings, and Instructions generally for placing new and modified types of engines on production. This department will be under the control of Mr Clough, with Mr W. Shaw to assist him as second in command. Mr A.T. Austin will take charge of the section leader's position vacated by Mr Shaw in this section, together with those of Messrs.Lesson, Shelton, Booth and Cursley will form the staff of the Aero Engine Detail Drawing Office. AERO ENGINE PRODUCTION DRAWING OFFICE. This office will deal with all work already in production and Air Ministry procedure in relation to modifications and amendments to same. It will also cover production routine work, and it will take over and put into production new and modified types of engines from the Detail Drawing Office at the point where material releases have been given and full production has been sanctioned. This department will be under the control of Mr C.Brown, with Mr S.C.Shelton to assist him as second in command. The staff of the Production Drawing Office will include the present section operating under Mr Lightbown, the alteration and card indexing section, blueprint stores, and will maintain the present close linkage with Mr Marriott's department on materials. ------- The Blueprinting department, the Tracing Office and the Tracing store under Mr Mattinson's control will serve both the Production and Detail Drawing Offices. The Patents and Publications department under the control of Mr Walker will draw its information from both Production and Detail Drawing Offices as may be required for the compilation of instruction books, spare parts schedules, and publications relating to engines generally. The correspondence abbreviation for Mr Clough will be Cgh{W Clough} as heretofore, and Mr Brown will in future be known as CB. Inter-departmental correspondence should be addressed accordingly.
