B.60 & B.80 CAMSHAFTS. B.80 No.1 unit has been dismantled and we find that in several cases the bottom edge of the tappets have been fouling the radius of the camshaft journals. One tappet has been fouling so badly that the metal has broken away off the edges. We note that an alteration has been put through to 20259 whereby the radius in the cam journal E is reduced from .100 to .050, however, on inspecting the job we do not think that this would give adequate safe clearance. In view of this we suggest that the front face of the cam journals be taken back by .075 or thereabout, in which case a fine radius will not be necessary.
