To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X. 7430 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M22.1.26. EAC. 8. STEERING - 'C' & 'D' TYPE. As promised yesterday, we send herewith N.2127 shewing the slight modifications to the dashboard casting required to deal with the steering column with the large worm. It will be seen that we have not altered the main casting except in those depressions which carry the steering column support, and in the position of the hollow through which the column passes, so that we are hoping that we have not caused much delay. In the case of the 'B' type column, moving the steering column forward to a position 16¼" from the dashboard causes this column to pass through the same point in the dash, and therefore no alteration to the latter is required.
