Steering "F" Type. All fittings untarnishable. Wheels - rims 18 ins. diameter x 4 ins. Tyres - 7.5 ins. section. Outside diameter 32.800 ins. Two side spare wheels. Body. Continental Touring Saloon - see design LeC.4263. Body Shell Construction. All framing to be of best seasoned English Ash and materially in accordance with LeC.4263 where shewn. All pillar and rail sections to be the same as used on the current series Bentley Standardised saloon. Rear wheel arches to be of sheet steel, as drawn and to S.W.G. 18. Body crossmembers under front seats to be sheet steel pressings as drawn, and the seat runners to be mounted on the body bottom sides and the central tunnel. The intervening spaces to be filled in by a pair of light aluminium covers. Rear foot wells to be of aluminium, S.W.G. 16. in contact with the body only on the attachment face. The attachment joint to be isolated with a strip of Kautex, 1/16th.ins. thick. The foot well must be detachable. All ironing to be carried out with sheet steel flitch plates and gussets and all joint fixings to be made with bolts, or bolts and wood screws. Joints must contact only on the jointing face, all other surfaces being cleared to prevent creaks. The jointing face to have a greased paper insert. The central hinge pillar to be of cast Alpax, as on the Standard Saloon Bentley. The screen pillar to be wrapped with sheet steel (S.W.G.16) Doors. The doors to be as thin as possible at the jamb by the use of Bentley locks. The lock jamb to be reinforced by a plate of sheet steel S.W.G.16, to prevent the door from warping due to the weakened section at the lock. P.W.Hinges of the Bentley concealed type, bolted to the centre pillar and to the door. Ferodo top and bottom door stops with a central Bedford stop, to the near side doors only. Contd: | ||
