X5783 do EFC. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/HAW6/D28.10.26. 20-HP. Complaints. Ref. EFC2/T27.10.26. The case referred to was Chassis No.GCK-70. The chassis was sent in with complaints of platinum points constantly and frequently burning away, and amongst other things - Dynamo charge defective; the exact complaint re the Dynamo was very vague. We found the trouble apparently was due to bad contacts of the cut-out points. This was changed and we presume the trouble disappeared, the Dynamo itself being apparently O.K. This case is one of the first of those we have recorded on our "Complaint" file, and was entered, as were all the earlier cases recorded, from the owner's list of complaints. We have found in many cases that the owners have wrongly diagnosed their troubles, and that the actual cause of trouble or failure may be due to something quite different. We are therefore, now compiling our "Complaint List" from the work actually found necessary to cure the complaints. This explains why this case and the five cases of starter motor failure were included under their respective headings. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/HAW.
