REAR GIRLING BRAKES. As a result of rear brake groans and rapid loss of adjustment, we have removed the drums for examination. The N.S. is in very good condition. There were minute pellets of zinc round the edge of the linings as if it had melted out, but there was no other indication of over heating. The O.S. is in rather bad condition. The liner of the drum has torn up and is marked black all round, and the linings have worn badly. We should say that there had been oil in the brake, but it was dry when removed. The drum has been cleaned up as well as possible. --------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} Frank.
