To [unclear text] from R.{Sir Henry Royce} ORIGINAL RECEIVED 20 JUN 1921 X3764 REPORT ON 4 EX. JUST RETURNED FROM AMERICA. (1) The car arrived in an extremely dirty and untidy condi- tion, the new pieces, with but few exceptions, being put on in an extremely temporary and unsubstantial way. With a few exceptions the parts generally function well, but cannot be considered of a class suitable for an exclusive article, and do not appear to promise to last well and stay in good working condition. In the distressful condition in which we received the car the covers were missing off the distribution box, magnetic relay starter switch, and the battery and other things showed the car had been very badly taken care of. (2) SPRINGS - REAR ROAD. The springs appear to be quite satisfactory. We do not know what condition of lubrication exists between the leaves, but as received the damping seemed ample. We have no adverse criticism to make about these. (3) MODIFICATIONS TO INDUCTION PIPE. Regarding the modifications to the induction pipe, from our observations and Mr. Hives' tests, these are of very little real value, and can be easily excelled by other arrangements which we have in hand. We should therefore recommend you to wait a few days until we are able to send you the best recommend- ations for - (1) Existing cars on the road. (2) and for future cars. (Contd.) | ||
