Test results and identified faults for two vehicles, 98-NK and 44-PK.

With reference to our test yesterday, I found 98-NK, the open touring car, the most beautiful car I had ever ridden in, and was very pleased with it. I understand there is little doubt you can overcome: 1. The explosions in the exhaust when the accelerator pedal is released. 2. The stiffness of the steering. 3. Some form of indicating dial should be fitted to the instrument board to show how far open the radiator shutters are. With reference to 44-PK, we found:- 1. Steering very stiff. 2. Explosions in the exhaust. 3. Very noisy exhaust. 4. Engine vibrations at slow speeds rather excessive. 5. Footbrake inoperative. I understand this was due to a new axle having been just fitted. In spite of the above criticisms, I could say much in regard to the satisfactory improvements since we last had the car. With regard to the rocker covers, you will no doubt be talking over this matter with Mr. Royce. it seems to be the general opinion that the black cover will be easier to keep clean. B.J. | ||
