X 293 We note from your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/KT.9.2.33. that you have received a sheet metal wheel are for Pere.2. from Messrs Park Ward & Co.Ltd. The object of our having this sample wheel-arch sent to the Works was with a view to exploring the possibilities of their being able to produce them. These wheel-arches will be common to every Pere.2 body. At the moment we are making them up by simple bending and hand beating, and finally welding. Due to the wide frame of Pere.2. this sheet metal construction of this portion of the body is essential, that is to say we cannot abandon the use of these arches and revert to our present construction. We would be glad if you could interest RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} and the works with a view to their reporting to me on the manufacture of these, at the same time suggesting any changes in the design which would help them. Messrs Park Ward & Co. have to get a set of twenty pairs almost at once and they will need a similar wheel arch for the bodies of the Bensport. We thought that this was an ideal opportunity to give work to the new sheet metal press which we have installed, and do not want to have to buy them from some outside firm if the work is of any use to us.
