X5360 To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KT.22.9.33. 20/25 BRAKES. We have examined one or two cars in the Test Dept. with the rear brakes set at 1.00" clearance. The gap in the star springs had been reduced to .040" by use of washers G.56019/20/21. The pedal moved 2" to take up all the clearance, and has then a further 1 3/4" before hitting the boards. We think it is likely that considerable pedal travel is being lost on cars previous to GYZ.28 due to the gap in the star springs being excessive. Movement there is multiplied 8 times at the pedal. We suggest fitting the adjusting washer in those cases. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
