Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}14/R.15.3.37. With regard to your memo of the 11th on Bentley complaints, will you let us know whether there have been any oil leaks passed the pinion, or failures of the pinion bearing cages since chassis 101 in 'J'. On this chassis we incorporated the pinion with the inner of the nose bearing integral with the pinion. This considerably stiffens the assembly and might overcome the trouble. Can you also find out for us what mileage and results have been obtained from the bearing EX.23493 ? We hope soon to be in a position to do something about wheel drivers, for use on customers' complaints it will be necessary to fit a new driver and a new hub. Do you think it will be best to send out new hubs complete with brake drums, or, alternatively, let Depots change over the drums and skim them up ?
