X.4333. Dynamo Brush Spring Pressures.
The spring pressures of the Goshawk dynamos are specified to be 1.0 lb at each of the main brushes and .75 lb at the control brush. Those on the Standard experimental dynamos in the laboratory agree fairly well with this in their highest position before brush wear commences, but when wear has taken place to the extent allowed by the brush-holders, the pressure is about halved.
On No 288 machine, which has been used for brush wear tests, the spring pressures are all .6 lb in the commencing position, and in the present state of brush wear (Cont'd)
