Minute No. -7- HYL/R.30.11.33.

21. Item 18. Engine Mounting.
Latest position re experiments with floating engine. Min: 10, page 4, HYB/GR.{George Ratcliffe}13.3.33.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that experiments are to be tried out on the Bentley. He has recently come to the conclusion that flexibility in a vertical plane appears to be desirable in order to damp out flywheel flutter.
Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that work is going ahead on these lines experimentally.

22. Item 19. Standardisation Sheets.
Are parts being introduced on production chassis prior to standardisation sheets being fully signed up ?
Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} said that no parts are being introduced on production chassis prior to standardisation sheets being fully signed up but that there were certain exceptions due to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} not having signed up the complete sheet and in some cases work was being put in hand in anticipation of this being done.
Keep on Agenda.

23. Item 20. Independent Road Wheel Suspension on 27-EX.
Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that this car was now on the road and it was arranged that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and C. should try this car and that they should be taken to Nottingham on 27-EX to catch the train from there.

24. Item 21. Girling Brake. (Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/E16.11.33. etc.)
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said the claims for this brake could be divided into two heads:-
(1) Improvements in the transmission of power from the brake pedal to the brake.
(2) Internal arrangements of the brake itself.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that (1) is the most interesting to us and that he and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} are still investigating the matter.
