Contd.

All four gentlemen appeared very keen on the original proposition described by Mr. Bailey in his note, namely, that the Delco Company were very anxious to manufacture some ignition apparatus to our requirements and drawings on the same lines as already set out by Mr. Bailey. They showed me quite a number of special ignitions that had been made by the Delco Co., for various types of American cars. The following makes of cars being included in the list:-

Packard 12 cylinder 60°V (This is the same as the one Mr. Royce has had for examination).
Cadillac 8 cylinder 90°V.{VIENNA}
Stutz 4 cylinder (This was a dual ignition).
Hudson (Essex) 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder.
Nordyke and Marmon 6 cylinder.

They stated also that they were making up experimentally an ignition set for the Pierce Arrow Locomobile.
We saw examples of most of these ignitions, and they illustrated to what extent these people are willing to go in making up so many different designs of ignitions, as every one of these was quite different in outside shape and size from every other, and everyone was of the same good quality. They say they are anxious to do the same for us, either on the chassis or the aero engine, or both, considering either as equally important. They claim that they have knowledge in regard to the contact points, distributor, etc., which we cannot possibly have and this knowledge can be incorporated in any ignition they make up to our requirements.

They also gave me a list of aero engines for which they had supplied ignitions, this list included:-
