MAIN BEARINGS. We removed all the lower halves of the main bearings, with the exception of N°7, for inspection and found the bearings to be in an excellent condition, with no sign of cracks or loss of metal, or any score marks. CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS. The bearings of the connecting rods are also in very good condition. On N°2 & 5 (crankpin) bearings, there was a very small crack with very slight loss of metal. We filled up the above with a blob of white metal. The surface of all the bearings was free from any score marks. There was a slight crack in the whitemetal on the external portion of N°3 bearing, on to which the blade rod is fitted. We should mention that the owner, although he frequently covers long distances with his car (Paris to Geneva, etc.), is a careful driver. He also likes to have the oil frequently changed in the engine, approximately every 2500 Kms. Will Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} kindly refer to paragraph 2 of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby} 29.1.38 "Phantom III Bigend Bearings 3.AZ.140". We have now refitted all the original bearings to the engine. Sr/VA. JA P.S. The owner says that he does not exceed 110/120 K.P.H. | ||
