BWNG What further experience have we had on the diaphragms? Jm.{Mr Morley} re S.U. PETROL PUMPS. The question has arisen as to the necessity for servicing S.U. petrol pumps on cars abroad. It may often be difficult or impracticable for complete pumps to be returned to this country to be repaired, but as experience shows that the majority of troubles with these pumps is due to shrinkage or deterioration of the diaphragms, the question is as to whether new diaphragms can be fitted abroad. The chief difficulty here lies in the fact that the diaphragms must be shrunk and hermetically sealed and remain so until they are fitted to the pump. The S.U. Company have suggested that for all expert work we should use zinc diaphragms which they say are being standardised for a number of other makes of cars, thus obviating any difficulty in regard to the shrinkage of the diaphragms. We shall be glad to have your views on this subject. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SBB | ||
