Phantom II Brakes - Non Squeaking Scheme

Replying to your EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/T2.12.30 I do not know what has become of the 20 sets of these brakes to which you refer, other than the following.

There are now 5 sets at 'N' waiting to be fitted. 26-EX has been fitted, 58-GN Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s Car has been fitted, and the London Trials car, 129-GN was fitted, but as this car was immediately sold to an owener living in Buenos Aires, it was not considered desirable that the car should not be standard in this respect.

It was intended to fit 88-GN now being used by Capt. Strong, but I have not at the moment information as to whether this was in fact done.

The only case of criticism in respect of the failure to remain quiet after this "Handcock" device had been fitted is in the case of 26-EX; Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} reported from Paris that all four brakes drums squeaked subsequent to the 28th October when the device was fitted to this car at "N"

We will keep you informed in respect of the continued behaviour of this device on cars fitted with it which are within our ken.
