To. Rem. a/c Mr. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} 35-EX. PHANTOM III. The work on the rear axle and suspension is now well in hand at the Paris Depot, and all the necessary parts have arrived. We experienced severe squeaks from the water pump on the way to Paris. This was dismantled on arrival and it was found that the rear curved edges of the rotor blades were rubbing on the casing due to the thrust pad wearing down. The thrust on the front flat face of the rotor is against the pump casing and not against the inner bush of the spindle, this being recessed below the surface of the casing. Is this correct ? The spindle and packing glands were in good condition. The rotor and casing are being dressed up where they have picked up, and the thrust pad washered up. The pump will be refitted for further running. ----------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} | ||
