Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x1091 COPY GRYLLS. THE ROVER COMPANY LIMITED. NEW METEOR WORKS COVENTRY. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/HP. 24th February 1936. MCW/PM. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr Day, For the attention of Bernard Day Esq. In reply to your letter of February 21st, we have used Oilite Bushes in our Brake Linkage on our 1935 Models, and found them not very satisfactory, as they were prone to get sticky, particularly those in connection with the Compensating Gear which is situated rather low down on the two axles and therefore is very exposed. We were unable to devise any satisfactory means of protecting these parts. In view of the abovementioned troubles, we have this year replaced all Oilite bushes with plain bronze bushes lubricated from the central chassis lubricating system. Yours sincerely, THE ROVER COMPANY LIMITED M.C.Wilks, Technical Department. | ||
