X.4260 Extract from Hsl/LG23.1.22. X.4219 Front Dumb Irons. X.4260. The last set of dumb irons we have been testing on the bump test were riveted instead of bolted. We have had considerable trouble with the rivets working loose and some of them breaking. We have gradually replaced the rivets by bolts so as to keep the test running. Unless we can get a definite improvement in the rivetting, it would appear to us much safer to use bolts on such vital parts as the dumb irons. On the early 40/50 H.P. chassis, we used to rivet the dumb irons but changed to bolts. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
