Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hdy.{William Hardy} No.3/KT.1.10.32. x4553. BENSPORT BRAKES. We have recently run a Peregrine car which has similar brakes to the Bensport without a servo, and as one would expect after being used to servo operated brakes, we consider the braking is impossible. The Bensport being a fast car we will need very excellent brakes, the rest of the controls such as steering, change gear, and clutch, will be very light, and it would be a pity to spoil it with brakes which require a lot of effort to operate. It may be possible if we fit increased size of brake drums and generally improve the efficiency of the brake operation that we should get the brakes as good as those on other cars without a servo. In the end, however good we can contrive to make the brakes without a servo, it is certain that they will be better with a servo. We realise that on the Bensport scheme of brakes there is an automatic adjustment for the rear brakes; this does not appear to have been applied to the front brakes. We are greatly in favour of some automatic adjustment on all brakes even on the present standard 25 HP. and 40/50. We anticipate we are going to have trouble in getting satisfactory braking on the Bensport as it is at present arranged without a servo. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
