-2- not experienced the same trouble, and at the present moment we are trying out various tests to ascertain if possible the cause. We have had no trouble with the inlet valves. Examination of the valve guides and valve springs found them to be in excellent condition. There has been no trouble with overoiling when the engine has been idling, due to oil being drawn down the inlet valve guides, the asbestos packings now fitted are a definite improvement with this respect, and had not deteriorated. CYLINDERS & CYLINDER HEAD. 5-1 Comp: Ratio Cylinder Head E.82168. Remaining parts to complete are to LOP.79033 We took the opportunity to examine the cylinder bores whilst the head was dismantled. The bores were in a good condition and had ample lubrication. The cylinder head has given no trouble, and we have not observed or detected any water leaks from the tubes. WHEELCASE & FITTINGS to LeC.2911. E.82240 Wheelcase, incorporating LeC.2911 Diamond Engine Mounting. E.82245 Engine Suspension arm. E.82246 Bracket - Suspension arm. We have thoroughly examined the wheelcase and the suspension arms, and the brackets for the diamond engine mounting. We cannot observe any weakness having made itself manifest. We have subjected this mounting to severe strains by running over rough roads. These features would appear, therefore, to be satisfactory. OIL PUMP to LOP.E.82081. The oil pump has given satisfactory pressure throughout the mileage, and it has remained fairly quiet, equal to standard qualities. CARBURETTER to LOP.E.80530. The carburetter generally has functioned satisfactorily. We have had one or two occasions when the low speed jet has become faulty due to foreign matter which upset the slow running of the engine. WATER PUMP to LOP.E.79093. We have not had any water leaks from the pump gland during the mileage. FAN to LOP.E.77671. We have had occasions when the fan has chattered due | ||
