PHANTOM III. VALVE INSERTS.

During a recent investigation of misfiring troubles on 36-EX. it was found that one of the exhaust valve inserts was found partly unscrewed.

The exhaust inserts are not locked by the method adopted on the inlet, i.e. the alum of the head punched into four small recesses cut in the insert, but rely on the cone locking of the actual seat in the head.

Even though this is the first known case, we think it sufficiently serious to warrant the adoption of locking the exhaust insert in the same manner as the present standard inlet insert is done.
