Ilike the axle .750 lower - i.e. new forging, because it will improve the appearance, as the same radiator looks 1" deeper.
It is a great pity that we cannot clear the front so thatwe see the whole depth of the radiator.
Anyway we seem to want the axle .750 down but I regret the cost and delay, and that it will not be interchangeable with present standard.
Should we not be able to get it in time for the rest of the chassis we can still run the car with the present axle.
It has just occurred to me that if we are producing any new designs of front road wheel hub we might like to carry the load with a roller bearing, and use a double row New Departure to take the outer end - i.e. the end load. I should not make the change unless the present occasionally shews itself hardly equal to the load, but I think this idea better than Timkin's or conical bearings and their exact end adjustments.
