Whilst in EY.1/G.29.9.36. we have instructed the Order Office to obtain material for producing shims for the rods, I wish to make it clear that the Works are not to make the change until they receive definite instructions from this Department, the reason being that we are awaiting results of experiments by the Experimental Department and the agreement to issue a standardisation sheet before material is actually to be applied to engines. It must, therefore, be clearly understood that the Works carry on from hand to mouth with the present type of shim, viz. steel shim - aluminium faced. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
