To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} CJ7/C16915 -2- In fact they will pay the full cost of pipes and other parts which we may have to fit, if and when they take the engine away from us, but as regards the testing of this engine, they think that we ought to obtain information which is valuable to us and they suggest that we should do the testing free provided the Admiralty pay for the petrol, etc. To this I have agreed. The Admiralty ask that the information we are able to derive, together with particulars of the engine, shape and dimensions of combustion chamber, and other essential features, should be conveyed by us to the Admiralty for general national use.
