-3- Contd. screwed up to low resistance. No undue heating of the cutout contact points must occur. (6) The dynamo speed shall be reduced until the ammeter A1 reading is zero. The connections of this ammeter shall then be reversed, after which the speed shall gradually be reduced still further until the cutout contacts fall apart. The instant of falling away will be shown by the drop to zero of the needle of the ammeter A1. The readings of the voltmeter and ammeters immediately preceding this instant shall be noted. The reading of the ammeter A1 shall not exceed 2.0 amperes. (7) Now connect terminal B of the distribution board to terminal T1 of ammeter A2 in place of terminal C. Connect the latter to terminal T2 of ammeter A2. With the dynamo charging at 10 or more amperes gradually open out the resistance R until the reading of the voltmeter V lies between the limits 16.7 and 16.9 volts at which value the greenlamp switch should close. If it does not, adjust the tension of the return spring accordingly. The reading of the ammeter A2 must not exceed .45 ampere. EFC. | ||
