For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letters of the 7th and 8th inst.

With regard to the sample pressure plates, we think that No. 1 (5d. extra) includes all that is needed by way of extra finish with the exception that we should very much prefer the name of the Foundry at which the plates are cast to be ground off. We are advising our Buying Dept. of the position. The plates are being returned to you under separate cover.

We are returning to you some production clutches of which the holes in the cover for fixing to the flywheel are out of position and hence will not clean up in our reaming jig. This matter will be taken up with you by our inspectionpeople.

Regarding the two 13 1/2" driven plates with special horse-shoe slots, we should like your comments as to whether it is easier to produce flat friction facings with either of these arrangements than with the old. This was really the consideration which we had in mind when we asked for the plates to be made.
