X.3374. To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from EFC. c. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Thr. c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EFC1/T21.4.21. X.3374 RE VISIT IN CONNECTION WITH ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. I have made arrangements that Mr. Brock and myself visit the Works of the following firms in connection with the electrical equipment, doing Lucas's on Saturday morning and the remaining firms in London during the first few days of next week:- Smiths, Rotax, C.A.V. and North & Sons (magnetos). If anyone to whom this note is addressed have any points which should be taken up with the various firms in question, we should be glad to be informed of these some time before Friday night. The visit to Lucas's will be partly in connection with their recent proposition to R.R. Ltd. of co-operation of manufacture of electrical equipment, and in order to see the progress they are making with the lengthened E.575 dynamo suggested by Mr. Royce some time ago, this matter having been referred to during Mr. Breedon's visit to us just over a week ago. Also it has been promised that we be shown the process of bakelite moulding which Messrs. Lucas are carrying out. We hope, if possible, to see as much as possible of the various processes of manufacture carried on at the premises of these various firms, although our visit is not ostensibly for this purpose, but for the purpose of general discussion of electrical equipment in accordance with our recent communications with these various firms.
