6139 To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} BY/RD.3/B.7.10.38. FOOTSWITCHES. We have taken the matter up with Messrs. Lucas re the improved contacts in the F.S.22, and whilst they had at one time intended to fit the larger contacts in the switch, it was not proceeded with, because :- (a) It would create a special model. (b) The space between the body and the contacts would be very much reduced. (c) The large quantities of the standard F.S.22 now used by everybody in service, continue to give excellent service, and have not shown up any weakness. We have therefore, to decide whether the F.S.22 is good enough for us, or whether we should incur the cost of new tools to produce the special larger diameter model, exclusive for our use. In forming our conclusions, tests have shown that the F.S.22 is better than the RR. Footswitch, and since we have not had a great amount of trouble with the RR. Switch, it would indicate that anything better would be good enough, and furthermore, it gives us the opportunity to use other peoples standard articles. BY/RD. | ||
