BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X104. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M28.4.32. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} re. PEREGRINE - 1st CAR. X.4027 We send herewith N.sch.3462/65, shewing the design of the first body now being erected for Peregrine - a four door, four light, saloon by Park Ward. N.SCH.3462. This design shews the body itself to scale of 1/16th. N.SCH.3465. This drawing shews a layout of the body, and deals with the following chassis features: (1) BONNET & DASH. As we previously informed you the bonnet rear width must be 35.500". Apartfrom widening the bonnet at the back from the 35.500" agreed to by yourselves and EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} when in Derby, and as given on his print of Sch.1590., you appear to have raised the side moulding .175" and the top hinge .375" both at the rear. You did not tell us this. We must let the side panel intersection at the rear stay at 23.450" but we agree to raise the top hinge at the rear to 27.900". We cannot agree to the 28.100" which you have increased the height to on Sch.1590. The difficulty with the oil pump and wiring can be overcome by lowering these .100" together and reducing the clearance between the top of the pump and the dashboard pot by .100". The remaining .025" if necessary can be got by a reduction in the depth of the dashboard face above the pot. The body is being erected, and this bonnet rear end shape as given on N.sch.3465, herewith, and which agrees with the above, must be taken as final for the first car. Please send as soon as possible a special print shewing the dashboard shape and the shape of the pot as well as the position of the isolation bolts, for us to give to Park Wards. (3) STEP IRONS. There should be only two a side. The first is a 25HP., with special bending. The 2nd. is a new design of combined step-iron and body bracket, which we would like you to set out. The positions of these are given. (2) WING STAYS. The 1st. and 2nd. wing stays should be those for the 25HP., as shewn. The 3rd should follow the design for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3., - N.sch.3414. (4) BODY BRACKETS. All the body brackets are fixed in position, and are those for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 2. Will you please send us 3 prints in all of each of these drawings, and return the originals.
