V3806 Expl: Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gyl/J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3rd. July 1929. Messrs. Luvax, Larden Rd., Acton W.3. Dear Sirs, For the attention of MR. Pitt. We believe the drip plugs with which you supplied us are now a great deal more reliable and though as yet the production rig for testing them is not in operation the general results on the car appear to agree with what we should expect theoretically, which we are sure you will recognise is very satisfactory. At the same time we are under the impression that we shall get better results by making use of slightly larger drip plugs in the case of the smaller variety. Thus, whereas the number 'O' drip plug now gives .060 cc/min. under conditions you state, we should like to test some slightly larger - say .085 cc/min. to .090 ccs.± 20%. We believe you should be able to do this by slightly increasing the diameter of the hole in which the plunger fits, at the same time increasing the size of the plunger to give the same diametrical clearance as before. This will slightly increase the annular clearance. We should also appreciate a slight increase in the feed of the No.1 drip plugs giving .170 cc/min. according to the said conditions, in a similar manner. You should be able to increase this to .200 cc/min. Would you please let us know whether you could attempt such a job when we will advise you of our customary order. You will appreciate that this is entirely experimental. We trust your troubles in production have been greatly overcome and shall be pleased to hear if any difficulties are still encountered and if you still experiment on the drip plug assembly. Yours faithfully, | ||
