We have examined these points carefully and are of the opinion that the rather poor condition of the tungsten contacts is due primarily to incorrect initial adjustment, the points not registering in the same plane horizontally, and secondly to the presence of oil causing flashing which would rapidly oxidise the surfaces. It is important to keep the points bedding together as much as possible in line. This is the first case brought to our notice of unsatisfactory performance of tungsten points. EFC/H.E.West. | ||
