Drawing No. 2748 X No. 1224 Origin: To facilitate production. Experimental Test Report. At present all our pistons are ground with clearance on the sides. It has been found that if the side clearance is ground tapered, it avoids hand-fitting. Road Test Report. Adopted by Springfield. We have tested pistons ground in a similar manner and recommend we adopt. A Scrap and replace at all costs, including Chassis already delivered to customers. B Scrap and replace on Chassis in works. C Scrap present stock and replace on all Chassis not yet handed to test. D Use existing stock Alteration effective on future Chassis.
