RE SUMP PIPE.

This is the pipe that goes from the pump to the Carter. As it is unprotected it breaks very easily through the stones thrown up by the wheels and this causes the oil from the engine to leak. As the client does not expect this he does not notice it and cases have been given when the engine has ceased through want of oil.

There has been some complaints and as I think this is a fault in the design of the chassis, I call your attention to it for R.{Sir Henry Royce} to see the means of correcting it. I should propose that the aluminium carter in the engine should be protect this pipe in the interior.
