EXIDE TYPE S1 HYDROMETERS.

Of the 24 type S1 hydromters which we have received for test and which we understand represent 10% of a production quantity, we find that 22 of these are quite satisfactory, but that the error in two of these instruments, which we have duly labelled, is greater than we care to pass, the loading of the float being wrong to the extent of a difference of 15 points on any density reading, i.e. a true density of 1120 reads 1105 (both have the same error).

Perhaps the matter is not sufficiently serious to warrant a test of the whole stock, but perhaps if we could send these two back to the Exide Company with a statement of their error, it would cause them to be more careful to supply us with instruments with accurate readings.

We return these 24 hydrometers to the Stores herewith.

EFC.
