COPY. CJ. 11-EX. 20.12.25. General Performance at Commencement of Test. ENGINE. Smooth, acceleration good, engine free. Does not appear to accelerate as well above 35-40 m.p.h. but speedometer is very irregular. (To be changed). High note engine gear sing or electrical dynamo howl.(Much reduced on no charge). Engine knock under power about 25-35 m.p.h. (Not yet definitely located). Pick-up (power) vibrations good. Over-run (high speed) vibrations, good. OVEROILING TEST 20 MINS. Exhaust clear. Plugs sooted and dry. Cylinder walls 12345, very dry. 6 moist only. EXHAUST. Noisy, each cylinder head clearly exhausting up to 25 m.p.h. Cut-out to be examined to see if properly shut. Operating rod has been bent. Bad explosions in exhaust on overrun. CLUTCH. Will not stop when thoroughly warm. Has been adjusted to maximum possible extent. GEARS. O.K. 3rd some noise but smooth. 2nd always stops tooth to tooth and so is difficult to engage when standing. AXLE. O.K. BRAKES. Adequate and progressive. Rather hard to the touch and considerable pressure required for full effect. SERVO. Bad groan on application, about 30 m.p.h. Always noticeable on and off. STEERING. Good, smooth and light. No feeling of stickiness at commencement of movement. Impression of a tendency to stiffen up as run proceeded but it was not sufficient to be definitely recorded. ACCELERATOR PEDAL. Comfortable. GEAR LEVER. Too short, should be 2" longer. STARTER GEAR. Some noise. | ||
