CHICHESTER. 25th. Sept. 1924. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Munro Esq., at Mess'rs{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} Barker & Co. (Coachbuilders) Ltd. Olaf Street. Latimer Road. LONDON. W. X3729 Dear Sirs, re. SPORTS BODIES ON 40/50 RR. CHASSIS. This is to confirm our conversation of yesterdays date concerning the following points:- (1) That the body is ready for mounting and we will endeavour to supply you with a dummy chassis in about a weeks time from this date. (2) 1st BODY. We think that the wings for this body should certainly be painted, and angular, conforming somewhat to the angular nature of the body. We amend herewith a sketch. We wired you this morning that the front edge of the front wing can be 6½" in front of the front axle. We think a tonneau cover should be fitted on the lines suggested to the first three bodies of this model but that no rear screen should be fitted. From the point of view of inspection by Mr. Johnson and others we agree that the body should be finished off roughly with 2 coats of varnish-colour, Powder Grey, as on 107.MG. and upholstered with Conolleys leather ANG.125, or some other leather of a similar kind, not having an antique grain. (3) 2nd & 3 BODIES. We did not like your design S.7050. and it was agreed that you would supply us with a further design, adhering as closely as possible to our N.scheme 1829. We think this car should also have pointed wings, but not angular ones, as illustrated in the second portion of our sketch herewith. (1) | ||
