Will you please note that it has been decided that this car shall leave for France on Wednesday afternoon next, the 9th inst. The following is a list of desirable modifications which we should like to get on the car, but we cannot hold it up if any of them are not ready :- (1) Rear axle to be checked to ascertain if there is anything to account for the noise, and the taper on the pinion to be modified to N.Sch.4651. (2) Softer rubber engine mounting to be fitted. (3) 7" air silencer fitted with vents from the float chamber lids. (4) Gearbox at present being prepared with the minimum amount of slack to be fitted (No. 4-H-S). (5) Hardened steel pieces fitted to pivots. (6) Rubber rear mounting roll rod to be fitted. (7) Rear steel straps for rebound buffers to be cleared from fouling the axle. (8) Cadillac type fan to be fitted. We have asked for the following parts to follow the car out, but if they are ready we should like them to be fitted before the car leaves for France :- (1) 6. Stellited exhaust valves, KR-965. (2) Silent tappet plungers with clearance reduced to 1 thou. ± 1/10. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
