| G/Rb{R. Bowen} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std7/M.12.2.37. We have demonstrated to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} a Bentley Car fitted with fixed slats instead of thermostatic shutters, and think that there is a strong possibility that we may be able to standardise such an arrangement. This would, of course, necessitate thermostatic by pass control of the water temperature. Such a scheme was fitted to the first Bentleys built (to Le C 3488.) We send you herewith prints of Le C 3488, LOP EB.309 sheet(4) (the LOP for this scheme) and EB666 the thermostat arrangement. Will you please let us have the cost of this scheme as compared with the standard Bentley cylinder head water outlet (the former will also include the by pass pipe and unions to the water pump) We should like these figures as soon as is practicable so that we can make any necessary modifications to the scheme. We should also like to know whether you can let us know the saving which would be obtained by the introduction of RR. Sch. 1045 on Bentley and 25/30 (as requested by By/Cgh{W Clough}).
